Columbia, South Carolina — Daily COVID-19 data delayed 24 hours from 27 November as part of ongoing improvement efforts to improve the quality of information provided by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environment (DHEC). Will be provided. 2020. This delay allows for more robust data analysis before the data is publicly reported. DHEC epidemiologists and data analysts have more time to review the vast amount of data and information reported daily to agencies, data validation, death report validation, and submissions from reporting partners. Have additional time to improve the processing of large data files. This gives DHEC data and healthcare professionals more time to identify and investigate data inconsistencies and anomalies.
This transition has no impact on the authorities’ efforts to protect public health and limit the spread of the disease. The case investigator will continue to attempt to contact all positive cases within 24 hours of notification of the positive result.
Hospital bed occupancy information is updated daily without delay 24 hours a day. This is information that the hospital reports directly to the US Department of Health and Human Services daily.
In addition, the agency does not report daily COVID-19 numbers on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The data for these three days will be clearly provided in the next day’s report. We encourage all South Carolina citizens to safely celebrate this holiday season and remember the importance of mental and emotional health. It’s important to stop watching, reading, and listening to news articles and social media to give yourself time to relax and connect with others.
