The statue of George Floyd Tampering In Brooklyn, it has been carefully cleaned with a toothbrush and is on display at Union Square in Manhattan.
Floyd, 46, was killed by police in Minneapolis last May, causing global protests against racism and police atrocities.

The statue of Floyd was unveiled on the 16th June holiday at Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. Five days later, on June 24, it was destroyed with black paint and marked with the logo of the White Supremacist Group.

Members of the group who installed the statue in Brooklyn carefully cleaned the statue. This week, locals and one of Floyd’s brothers gathered to say goodbye to the move of the long-term plan to Union Square in southern Manhattan as part of the September exhibition.
“I heard the news about vandalism,” said Terence Floyd. “I was so proud that I was informed that Flatbush had suppressed it. They really supported us, looked for statues, and looked for the spirit of my brother.”
He added: “You try to stop us, but you can’t stop us, and we will continue with love.”
Andrew Cohen of Confront Art, the group behind the statue, said people spent hours cleaning the paint with a toothbrush and hands.
“The only way that worked was really, really, really putting elbow grease on it,” he said.
The statue will return to the studio on Monday for further cleaning. I have never been arrested for vandalism.
