Anaheim (CBSLA) — Disneyland announced on Thursday that it will suspend its annual pass program due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19.
“Due to the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic and restrictions on the reopening of California theme parks, we will make appropriate refunds to eligible Disneyland Resort annual passports and discontinue the current program,” said Ken, Disneyland President.・ Potlock announced in a statement. “For nearly 40 years, our annual passport program has been an important part of connecting with our most important guests,” Potrock wrote in an email to annual passport holders. “We are very honored and grateful for that legacy, and for the memories and magical moments that have helped you create us over the years.”
The surge in COVID-19 cases put the entire Southern California under a stay-at-home order, and under the governor’s previous reopening schedule, theme parks could not be reopened to the least restricted. A Disney official said on an investor’s phone that he did not expect the Anaheim park to reopen until at least March.
Disneyland is currently used as a COVID-19 vaccination supersite.
During the closure period, Potrock said the park will develop new membership offerings that offer more choice, flexibility and value to its biggest fans.
Active annual passholders as of March 14, 2020 will continue to receive discounts on merchandise, food and drink in some parts of Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street until a new membership program is announced. ..
