Lawrenceburg, Kentucky (LEX 18) — Nationally, there are several different ways in which the community is trying to incentivize people who are hesitant to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
As a result, Anderson County Health Department is now offering a chance to win an air fryer combo. You must go to the health department and get a shot to be eligible for the prize
Tim Wright, Director of Public Health in Anderson County, said:
Wright says his team came up with the idea when demand began to slow. Following that nasty trend, the administration of Johnson & Johnson vaccine was temporarily frozen.
“About 90 people were enrolled in the vaccination clinic, and many of them didn’t change Johnson and Johnson’s schedule when they had to cancel,” Wright said.
According to the latest information from the CDC, nearly 43% of people over the age of 18 in Anderson County are fully vaccinated.
More than 1.8 million Kentucky citizens rolled up their sleeves. However, herd immunity still has a long way to go. Wright says it starts with ensuring people’s confidence in the shot.
“The whole family except my dad got Johnson and Johnson. My dad got Moderna, so he got him early. And who in my family Did not have any problems, “Wright said. “14 days after receiving the vaccination, we all ate out. We were together for the first time in a year.”
Unfortunately, the grill didn’t lead to the expected surge that Wright wanted.
“17 vaccinations were planned this morning, 6 of which were canceled,” Wright said.
However, there are still 3 weeks and hundreds of doses are available. To schedule a reservation in Anderson County HD, call (502) 839-4551.
If the vaccine is not used immediately, it will be redistributed before it expires.
