Dog dies, one person taken to hospital after apartment fire – Portland, Oregon

KOIN, Oregon — Fire officials said a dog died and one was taken to a hospital after a Monday morning apartment fire in Wilsonville.

Around 5:30 am, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue was informed that a fire broke out in a three-story apartment building at 28550 SW Ashland Drive.

The two in the unit on the second floor couldn’t get out of the front door, so they got out of the balcony of the apartment.

TVF & R said it was able to control the fire. The crew evacuated people from the apartment. Firefighters searched the building and confirmed that everyone had evacuated.

Three people were injured in the fire, but only one was taken to the hospital. Officials said the person was in a stable condition. The other two were checked out by a health care worker in the field. A dog died in a fire.

The main body has been severely damaged, the unit above it has been damaged by fire, and the unit below has been flooded.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
