Dog helps lead game warden to suspect at Kansas lake – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas 2021-10-19 10:58:41 –

Wellington, Kansas (AP) — Ruby, a K-9 officer of Kansas game watchman, may be pushing 10 years old, but her sniffer works fine.

It was clear earlier this month when Ruby played an important role in tracking the man police wanted in Wellington, a town in south-central Kansas.

According to a Facebook post by Kansas Wildlife & Parks-Game Wardens on Monday, Ruby and her handler, Chris Stout, joined the search for the suspect in Wellington City Lake on October 8.

Ruby found the suspect “face down in the mud under a dense brush.” Ruby was rewarded for her hard work by swimming in the lake.
