A California shelter dog who received 17 rounds of chemotherapy for cancer found his unprecedented home.

San Diego Humane Society Said Eric, a 3-year-old Chihuahua, received weekly chemotherapy and four months of veterinary treatment before being considered in good health for adoption.

The humanitarian community said Eric was hired on November 14.

In July, Eric arrived at a tick-covered facility and shed blood on his feet.

After being checked out, they discovered that he had a cancerous tumor. He was also diagnosed with tick-borne disease.

For four months, the dog received chemotherapy and lived with foster parents. The foster parents took care of him and brought him for a promise.

“Everyone who took care of Eric after four months and 17 rounds of chemotherapy is excited to see that this elastic puppy is now cancer-free,” the agency said.
