Greenville, South Carolina (WSPA)-Survivors of domestic violence in Greenville gathered at the 4th Pretty Scars into Stars event on Saturday.

Hubertine Silkutt was there on Saturday.

She used to be a victim, but is now a survivor.

“Once you get off, there’s no other way to go, you have to go up. That’s what I’m trying to do …”

Sabrina Greenley left a considerable scar on the star event four years ago because of a woman like Silkat.

“It’s very important that they understand that the inside is beautiful as well as the outside today,” says Greenlee.

The day is full of luxury.

“My hair was twisted as I wanted, they made me up, they made me feel good,” Silkat said.

After that, dinner with a motivational speaker.

Saturday’s goal is to help these women, who have experienced so much, remember their values.

“It’s very rare for women to get over trauma,” says Greenlee. “Self-care seems to be a top priority.”

To her, she tells the same story as the woman she helps. “

“I myself have been victims of domestic violence three times, not just once. My story, my testimony. I am completely blind and 17% of my body is completely burned, Still, I get up every day and regain my strength, “says Greenlee.

In addition, “Regaining power is very important. Yes, you are isolated, yes, you are in control, but you are enough.”

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Greenlee says it plans to host more events throughout the month.
