The same town in Rhode Island that had to deal with a runaway cow earlier this year is currently investigating reports of free-range donkeys.
The donkey was first witnessed in Johnston around 7 pm on Sunday near the town border of Scituate.
It was reported again around 8:30 pm, but it was gone when police arrived at the scene, said Secretary Joseph Latza.
WJAR-TV sharing video The driver caught a donkey trotting the street as the car passed by.
“See you again,” Mayor Joseph Polysena told WPRO radio Monday morning that he was worried that the donkey could cause a car accident.
There are no reports of donkeys missing, but Polysena pointed out that there are several farms in the area.
The Animal Care Department will patrol where the donkey was the last scene, he said.
