(LEX 18) — State Senator Donald Douglas won one of the most interesting primary races in central Kentucky.
Douglas has won a Republican nomination for the 22nd Senate District of Kentucky. He is the face of legislation to formally end the COVID-19 emergency in Kentucky. He made history as the state’s first black conservative senator after winning a special election in November.
Douglas defeated coffee shop owner and challenger Andrew Corprider, who was talked about in his attempt to impeach Governor Andy Beshear against the limits of COVID-19.
The district is intended for voters in Garrard, Jesamine, and some of Fayette County. These counties represent local, suburban, and urban voters, respectively.
