Dr. Derrick Fox Wins 2021 Bryan R. Johnson Distinguished Service Award | College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media – Omaha, Nebraska

Dr. Derrick Fox, director of UNO’s choral activities and assistant professor of music, was awarded the 2021 Bryan R. Johnson Distinguished Service Award this year.

This award is Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA), A non-profit organization of music educators, offers continuing education opportunities, awards, scholarships, advocacy for members, education for students, auditions, contests and performance opportunities. Currently, the state has over 1,200 NMEA members.

Fox was nominated and voted by NMEA for his outstanding service and contribution to the organization. His work in creating, revising and updating NMEA’s diversity, fairness, access, inclusion, affiliation practices, processes and procedures has helped. These efforts have achieved and will continue to make the organization more comprehensive for students and teachers around Nebraska.

The new system “will be part of the organization’s DNA as the voices of all stakeholders are respected and will move in the future to promote the rich musical experience to which they belong,” Fox said. say.
