Washington DC — Television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz announced on Tuesday that he is running for the US Senate in Pennsylvania as a Republican.

“I’m running for the Pennsylvania Senate because the United States needs conservative Republicans to cure what’s wrong with Washington,” he says. Tweet.. “I am a world-class surgeon, fighter, and advocate of health care and are moving forward to cure the disease in our country.”

In his video release, Oz claimed that “our system is broken” and “Washington made a mistake” regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They robbed us of our freedom without making us safer,” he insisted. “And they tried to kill our spirit and dignity.”

After serving as a regular customer of The Oprah Winfrey Show and launching his own series, The Dr. Oz Show, in 2009, Oz became known nationwide. The show is still on air.

A 61-year-old cardiothoracic surgeon is running to fill the seat of Republican Senator Pat Toomey. Pat Toomey announced last year that he would not seek a third term in the November 2022 elections.

Celebrity doctors have joined key Republican disciplines, including Philadelphia region businessman Jeff Bartos and former US Ambassador to Denmark Carla Sands.

Oz was originally from Ohio and lived in New Jersey, but after graduating from Harvard University, he attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
