Henderson (KTNV) — Six of TheDream.US Scholarships graduated from Nevada State College today.

The ceremony took place at the Orleans Arena, and the family proudly cheered while receiving their diplomas.

Allery Pele Salsed is one of them. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and the first college graduation in her family, she is on her way to becoming her lifelong dream of becoming a full-time nurse.

Nevada State University students are recipients of The Dream.US, the nation’s largest university access and success program for young immigrants, mostly first-generation college students and most female students. ..

Astrid Silva, Executive Director of Dream Big Nevada, is a former graduate who was on the podium this time and received the Nevada Higher Education Commission Chairman’s Award.

“It’s a very humble moment, but it reminds us that there are many things we can do and we have more opportunities. This is a great blessing, but each of us will affect others in the future. It reminds us that we can make a contribution, “says Silva.

The Dream.US Scholarship recipients at Nevada State University average 3.5 GPA and have varying degrees of major. This covers all tuition fees for students of all admission years up to $ 33,000.
