Tulsa, Oklahoma — Iron Gate is asking the general public to skip candies and bring canned goods this Halloween.
The Soup Kitchen and Grocery Pantry will host a drive-through Halloween Food Drive from 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, October 31st.
“Food insecurity is horrifying and unfortunately very real for many Tarsans,” said Carrie Besley Henderson, executive director of Irongate. “Irongate has seen demand for grocery pantry balloons since the coronavirus pandemic began.”
The organization said it has distributed over £ 231,000 of groceries since mid-March.
“We distribute a lot of food every week, so we need the help of the community to keep up with the needs of our neighbors who are having a hard time putting food on the table,” Henderson said. It was.

- Canned tuna or chicken
- Peanut butter and / or jelly (plastic jar)
- Soup rich in protein
- Canned pasta sauce
