Las Vegas (KLAS) — Police are investigating a driver breaking through a wall and crashing into a pool on Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 3am in a house near Bermuda and Windmill

Kate Houston of 8NewsNow told homeowners when they assessed the damage.

Concrete, debris, and auto parts were still scattered in the backyard, as homeowners tell us that repairs cost tens of thousands of dollars.

“I’ve lived in this house for 24 years and have never seen a car go through a fence,” said homeowner Victor Estes.

Estes says his wife was at home when Dodge Durango broke through the backyard wall and plunged into the pool. He said it sounded like a bomb.

“After hearing the tires squeak, he heard the crash and went downstairs, and he was climbing,” Estes added.

Now there is a hole in the concrete wall with a gap, and the pool has a fence and a large block of rock. Some of the bumpers are still there — with Oregon license plates.

Estes says the car has been floating for hours, contaminating the water with oil and antifreeze.

“The pool needs to be drained and repainted. Perhaps everything is broken and the deck needs to be completed,” Estes said.

Police suspect that the driver had a disability. He was slightly injured and taken to the hospital.

“He had to go fast enough to lose control and set aside enough speed to go through the wall.”

Despite this happening shortly before the holidays, Estes is grateful that his wife, driver and his dog made it okay.

“You can’t control something like this. No control. It’s important because no one was badly hurt,” Estes said.
