Ouray County, Colorado — A driver who jumped over a cliff on the Red Mountain Pass into a river was rescued after hours of yelling for help.
According to the Ouray County Sheriff’s Office, local Colorado Transport Authority driver Duck Klein encountered a Red Mountain Pass debris field and heard a man screaming for help.
It’s unclear why the driver left the road, but he plunged into a cliff early Thursday morning. When Klein heard him, he and his car lay in the river hundreds of feet down.
Urey’s firefighter, Adam Kuntz, stepped down to the driver and helped communicate between them and the rescue workers.
Upon rescue, the driver was taken to Ferrin Park and taken to Montrose Hospital on a care flight. The state of his condition was not announced.
