“Many factors are out of our control, but we see many people taking tests online at home,” said Doug Pacey, an ADOT spokesman.
The permit test was available online before the pandemic, but was helpful when the COVID-19 protocol was introduced in the Automotive Department (MVD) office.
“Every time someone takes a permit exam at home, one less person has to go to the MVD office,” said Pacey. “It shortens the line for those who have a need for an office visit.”
Driving schools are seeing an increase in students as more people get permits.
“Parents are a little scared when trying to teach their children how to drive,” he said. Driving Motor Vehicle Center Academy, Said. “Parents are not always the best individuals to teach their students how to drive.”
