Angel Hernandez-Cruz’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit-.238%

Portland, Oregon (KOIN) — Luis Morales Ramirez was on his way home from work to graduate from his eldest son’s junior high school around 3:45 pm on June 9, 2020.

A heavy-duty truck driven by Angel Hernand Cluz headed north on Highway 99E, ran over gravel, overcorrected and hit Ramirez’s car head-on. NS A 5-year-old 37-year-old father died on the scene.

Investigators later determined that Hernandez Cruz’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit (.238%). At the time of the crash, he was under probation for DUII in Salem on June 12, 2019.

Hernandez-Cruz later denied manslaughter, DUII, and driver’s license suspension disputes. On Thursday, he was sentenced to 10 years (120 months) in prison by Judge Audrey Broiles.

Ramirez is survived by his wife Rosalia and five children: Edgar, Kenya, Alexandra, Karim, and Salary.
