Savannah, Georgia (WSAV) – A voting machine dumped on a side street just outside Savannah on Thursday caused great concern on social media. However, Secretary of State Georgia has confirmed that it is an outdated device.
A photo of a voting machine in the grass area was shared on Facebook. News 3 was reportedly found near Blueberry Hill Bar on Dean Forest Road in Garden City, and a second machine was also found.
The photos have been shared about 2,000 times online, and there are immediate suspicions about fraudulent voting.
Local law enforcement agencies have been notified of the discovery with the Secretary of State of Georgia. According to the office, this device appears to be part of the shipment of non-functional equipment stored at Savannah Port.
“This type of machine is no longer in use in Georgia,” an office statement said. “Because we don’t print ballots, it couldn’t affect the 2020 elections. The state has switched to voting entirely on paper ballots.”
At this time, it is unknown how the machine was placed on the side of the road. Secretary of State Georgia says they are investigating it.
