A building in a residential area of ​​Waimanalo was destroyed in a fire early this morning.

The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 12:02 am regarding a building fire on the 41-664 Kalaniana All Highway.

The first of the six units arrived at 12:10 am and found smoke and flames swallowing the structures behind the one-story building.

According to HFD, firefighters treated a 32-year-old man living downwind of the fire with symptoms related to smoke inhalation.

A total of 22 personnel worked to contain the flames on the structure and protect neighboring homes from the embers blown by the wind, putting them under control at 12:24 am. The fire was extinguished at 1:19 am.

The cause and cause of the fire, as well as an estimate of the damage, were not immediately available.

The HFD does not say whether the structure was used as a house or a shed.
