EDC Las Vegas expects 450,000 attendees despite cooler temperatures, pandemic – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada 2021-10-23 01:24:35 –

Today, the world’s largest dance music festival, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), is being held.

This usually happens in May, but in October. In other words, the temperature can drop overnight.

“It’s so hot that it won’t get cold here tonight,” said Arthur and Angela from California.

EDC has been in Las Vegas for 10 years, generating $ 2.5 billion in the local economy.

So even if the music doesn’t suit your taste, you can’t deny the result and the energy around it.

The excitement was clearly daunting for some of the campers here.

“It’s 108 degrees in a tent during the day,” said Polly, who came from California and has been camping at EDC Las Vegas for the second year in a row. “We were up from 7:30 in the morning. We are not sleeping.”

Insomniac, EDC’s head of organization, sent a text message to the campers stating that the air conditioner was not included due to the cold temperature. And a refund was offered. But that wasn’t the end.

“There is no running water,” Polly said. “The bathroom doesn’t work. There is no washbasin or shower. What do we do? And did you find that there is no AC? I was fine. I am fine.”

Insomniac said it was due to a damaged water main and was subsequently repaired.

Despite those setbacks, it’s still a draw, and many people have never been more engrossed for something in their lives. In addition, a total of more than 450,000 participants are expected on weekends.

“I was able to literally cry,” said Dymeschia of Dallas, Texas. “I’m trembling. I feel it in my bones. I need this in my life. I’m trying to spend the best time in my life here.”
