Richmond, Kentucky — Parker McKinney threw two touchdown passes to another pass, and Matthew Jackson’s passcut was delayed, causing Eastern Kentucky to beat 19th Austin Pee 35-27 on Saturday.
Jackson picked up Drayren Ellis in the midfield with 57 seconds left, returned the ball to EKU’s 9-yard line, and Colonel (2-2) killed the watch.
Da’Joun Hewitt’s 8-yard run marked his third touchdown with a four-drive span, with EKU turning a 20-14 deficit into a 35-20 lead, with the rest at 12:34.
Austin Pee reduced his deficit to 35-27 when Ahmad Tanner ran from 1 yard and finished 8 plays with 4:12 remaining and a 79-yard drive. The Governor’s defense held and forced a three-and-out before Jackson’s game save pick.
Hewitt finished with a 103-yard rush on EKU’s 22-carry.
Ellis threw 298 yards with a touchdown, but was intercepted three times, Tanner ran 99 yards with a 20-carry with two scores, and Banico Harley made nine receptions and Austinpy touchdowns at 136 yards.
