Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) — The Ellison Place Soda Shop was closed for a year and a half and reopened on Tuesday after a major refurbishment.
The restaurant next to the former location blends the beloved classic look with a modern atmosphere.
Double the space, with more booths, tables and fountain stools. New upgrades also include a live music stage, a full-service bar for heavy drinker milkshakes, outdoor seating, free parking, and a takeaway walk-up window.
The menu includes all the classic meats and three options, and of course plenty of milkshakes and pies. The restaurant was originally opened in 1939 and has since become a staple of Nashville rock blocks.
The refurbishment took about a year and a half with the goal of recreating the original look that customers enjoyed for decades.
“It’s such an old balance that we’re trying to rebuild with that soul and heritage, but the building is older than the original soda shop, so it had its own soul and story,” said manager Jim Myers. ..
The restaurant is open until 8:30 pm on Tuesdays. It opens at 6:30 am on weekdays and at 8 am on weekends.
