Honolulu, Hawaii 2021-06-08 10:19:10 –

A new emergency rule signed by Mayor Mitch Ross on Saturday has increased the capacity of commercial boats to 100% and increased the number of people available for sporting events.

Urgent Rule 15 increases attendance at sporting events to 75 outdoors and 25 indoors, deferring all travel policies to state-safe travel programs.

Ross also signed the Eighth Supplementary State of Emergency, which extends the current state of emergency in Hawaii County by the COVID-19 pandemic until July 28.

“As the number of people vaccinated in our community is increasing, we feel it’s time to reopen the island and safely begin to relax restrictions,” Ross said in a news release. .. “Increasing the size of sporting event gatherings to ensure that parents have the opportunity to watch lively games is one of our top priorities. Sports and other activities are many. It is irreplaceable for the health, safety and well-being of young people and we look forward to encouraging parents to participate in games and practice. “
