‘Empowering Our Girls’ workshop connects young women with opportunities, builds confidence – Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has hosted an “Empowering Our Girls” workshop to connect young women with community opportunities.

The “Empowering Our Girls” workshop held at LVMPD headquarters on September 24th was attended by 50 young women aged 10-18.

Retired WNMBA player and director of community relations and youth sports at Los Angeles Sparks, Rushia Brown sponsored an empowerment event to inspire young girls throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Metro woman We have partnered with the Foundation to host the event. Guest speakers included LVMPD Deputy Chief Sasha Larkin and LVMPD Lieutenant Michel Tavares.

“One of the goals of LVMPD is to thank our employees and the employees who serve them. This is one way we can partner with the community and provide positive interaction with the police. . “Sgt. Michel Tavares said.

This event provides young people with the opportunity to connect with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and discover potential positive impacts on the community.

Those words of encouragement were very helpful. One young participant described the event activity as “helping me learn how to love myself and grow with confidence.”
