After the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, e-commerce has become more firmly established in the economy and society. Overall, we can identify two trends. On the one hand, there is a normalization and stabilization of sales compared to the exceptional previous year. E-commerce will continue to grow in 2021 and is expected to grow slowly and steadily in 2022, a report titled “2022 European E-commerce Report” co-published by E-Commerce Europe and EuroCommerce.

Growth has returned to pre-pandemic levels due to the effects of war in Ukraine, inflation, global supply chain disruptions, and general uncertainty. Nonetheless, the fact that e-commerce sales have declined slightly so far shows that the digital commerce sector is essential and highly resilient.
