PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities issued evacuation orders Wednesday evening in Wasco County after a wildfire started near Mosier.

The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office said at around 6 p.m. that residents of Osburne Cutoff, Vensel, Catron, Dry Creek, Carroll, Morgenson, and from Chenoweth Airport to Vensel/Ketchum Road are under Level 3 “GO” orders. Residents at the intersection of Dry Creek across Seven Mile to Foley Lakes intersection, back up to Chenoweth Road West to Chenoweth Airport are in Level 2 “GET READY” and all of Browns Creek Road from Chenoweth to Wells roads are under Level 1 orders.

Just an hour prior to the evacuation orders being issued, the Oregon Department of Forestry tweeted that a fire running alongside I-84 near Mosier had grown to about two acres in size but that crews were on the scene and forward progress had been stopped.
