Chevrolet Debuting the C8 Corvette Z06 on October 26th, and it will be the first to come High performance A derivative that is expected to include the ZR1 and hybrid models. The Z06 uses a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft similar to the Ferrari V-8 and must produce at least 600 horsepower. It provides the bliss of high-speed hearing up to the 9000 rpm red line. I’ve heard that it has already been tested several times. I’ve seen and heard the new Z06 spinning a V-8 before making its debut in a few months, but I have all the details I know so far.
Our spy videographer caught the Z06 testing its launch control system at General Motors’ north-south test sites. We can’t wait to do this ourselves and we can see how fast the Z06 is on a straight line.
Listen to the engine speed of Z06
Chevy shared a rotating and accelerating audio clip for the new Z06’s naturally aspirated 5.5 liter flat-plane crank V-8. This is the clearest sound ever. You will want headphones for all of them, especially for this.
First clear look
Chevrolet is testing a prototype of the C8Z06 at the Nürburgring, removing most of the camouflage that was hiding the visual and aerodynamic details (including wheels) of the other test cars. It has a larger rear wing and is expected to be included in the truck-focused Z07 performance package.
The standard Z06 (pictured) contains aerodynamic elements that are less aggressive. The Z07 Performance package should include a more aggressive front splitter, larger wings, stiffer suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and more. Both of these Z06s have a quad-tip central outlet exhaust compared to the two exhaust tips in either corner of the C8 Stingray.
