Extreme cold weather shelter to open in Nashville Thursday night – Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee

Nashville, TN (WTVF) —Thursday night, Nashville is expected to be cold, so Metro Social Services will open a frigid overflow shelter.

The shelter will be available from 7 pm at 3230 Brick Church Pike (listed address of the Nashville Computer Science Academy)

Anyone who goes to the shelter can board WeGo’s public transport 23B for free from 7 pm to 11 pm from WeGo Central (400 Charlotte Avenue).

Transportation planning Outreach workers can drop off at designated locations west, east, north, or south of Nashville, so they can catch one of the free vans from WeGo Central to the shelter. Community partners will receive instructions on the drop-off procedure for the shelter after hours.

Cold shelters can also be found on the Nashville Rescue Mission on 639 Lafayette Street.

The metro’s cold shelter is available to men, women, couples and pet owners. Overflow shelters at night are open from 7 pm to 7 am the next day.
