AAre healthcare professionals more obliged to get the Covid-19 vaccine than others?
In this week’s First Opinion Podcast episode, doctor and bioethicist Ezekiel Emanuel will answer that question and more. He argues that hospitals and other medical facilities across the country, including nursing homes and home care companies, need to issue vaccine directives to all employees to prevent further deaths from Covid-19.
“You pledge to put the interests of the patient first. That is an ethical obligation. For retail workers,” Prioritize the interests of those who first see jeans and set foot in the store. I can’t say “I swear,” said Emmanuel. “I think that’s the fundamental difference” between healthcare workers and other workers.
The conversation stems from the first opinion.Vaxxed or axed: All healthcare professionals must be vaccinated to protect the patient.Written by Emmanuel and his colleagues Matthew Guido and Patricia Hong.
