Sarasota County, Florida — The Sarasota County School has suspended a temporary emergency face mask policy.
According to the school district, starting Monday, September 27, face masks are an option for students, teachers and staff.
“It is highly recommended to keep wearing a face mask indoors to keep the positive rate below 8%,” said the school district.
The emergency face mask policy is valid until Tuesday, November 23rd. The school district has an optional face mask and suspended policy whenever the COVID-19 positive rate in Sarasota County falls below 8% for three consecutive days.
However, the school district may require a face mask to resume the policy whenever the positive rate for Sarasota County for COVID-19 exceeds 10% while the emergency policy is in effect but suspended.
