Oakland, CA >> Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he would change his brand to Meta to cover the vision of future virtual reality that Zuckerberg calls the “Metaverse.”

Skeptics points out that it also looks like they’re trying to change the subject from Facebook Papers. This is a pile of leaked documents that reveals how Facebook ignored internal reports and social networks ignored warnings about harm created or spread around the world.

Zuckerberg says Metaverse expects to reach 1 billion within the next decade. He says the Metaverse is a place where people can interact, work, create products and content, and want to be a new ecosystem that creates “millions” of jobs for creators.

This announcement is in the midst of Facebook’s existential crisis. Following exposure on Facebook Papers, many parts of the world are facing legislative and regulatory scrutiny.

When describing the brand change, Zuckerberg said the name “Facebook” no longer includes “everything we do.” In addition to the major social networks, it now includes Instagram, Messenger, Quest VR headsets, Holizen VR platforms and more.

“Today we are considered a social media company,” Zuckerberg said. “But in our DNA, there are companies that build technology that connects people.”

He said the Metaverse is a new method. Zuckerberg, a fan of classics, explained that the word “meta” comes from the Greek word “beyond.”
