Las Vegas (KTNV) — The CCSD school year ends next week, but many families and related citizens want their children to remove their masks now.
“It ends in eight days. I don’t care if it ends in eight months,” said Bonnie Taylor, a long-time mental health expert with out-of-state grandchildren.
Taylor was one of the citizens associated with some CCSD parents Who spoke at the CCSD Board of Directors last week I will be attending the County Commission on Tuesday.
“I want them to know that we won’t be quiet until they do the right thing,” Taylor said.
Taylor pointed out several reasons to allow children to go to school without masks-high COVID-19 recovery rates and relatively low number of cases for children. She also said she had observed changes in the child’s behavior.
“They stand behind,” she said. “They don’t know what to do. They don’t make eye contact. They don’t talk. That’s bad.”
But CDC says it’s not that fast. The agency recommends schools around the world America continues mask requirements until the end of the school year.. There are two reasons. Most children are not completely vaccinated. They are under the age of 12 and are not yet vaccinated or have just been vaccinated and have not yet been fully vaccinated. The CDC also said it would take time for the district to coordinate its systems and policies.
Dr. Mark Felldousian said he was answering questions about guidance from confused parents.
“The expansion of vaccination was certainly welcome news by the age of 12, but it doesn’t really guarantee that parents are ready to vaccinate their children,” he said. “In fact, up to 50% of parents are reluctant to immunize their children.”
Dr. Ferdowsian said families need to perform due diligence when evaluating vaccines. Meanwhile, he recommended that school children continue to mask.
“Keep safe until you are sure that more than 50% of parents are willing to vaccinate their children,” he said.
The CDC said it could update the school guidance in the coming weeks and use it to inform plans for the next school year. The Commissioner’s Meeting will take place on Tuesday at 9 am in the Clark County Government Building.
