New Port Richey, Florida — The Pasco County community celebrates the life of a teacher Lost last year due to complications of COVID-19, With pumpkin patches, and all the proceeds are back in the profession she loved so much.

“She’s smiling now is probably unimaginably big,” said Lenny’s daughter, Madalin Ziongas.

Renee Dermott has been a school teacher in Pasco County for nearly 19 years. She loved her students and loved the fall season. So when I died of COVID-19 complications last year, things were tough. Especially when her favorite season rolls.

“She lived in the fall and October, so Madalin said,” Hey, can I make a pumpkin patch? ” And I was like “yes”, and last year it was very successful, “said Lenny’s husband John Dermot.

Last year they patched pumpkins At home, they raised enough money to give local students a $ 1,000 scholarship and a local school teacher of the year a $ 250 scholarship.

“She worshiped her students. Everyone was like a family to her. That is, we know that we are giving back to her second family, not just her memory. Because of that, she would just be over the moon, “Ziongas said.

This year, we moved to a larger venue in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in New Port Richey.

They called it Gigi’s Pumpkin Patch. That’s what Lenny’s grandson called her. You can also go buy pumpkins, paint your face, play games, and ride hay.

“I’m really humble about it. Yeah. I have no words,” Dermot said.

The Dermots are scheduled to hold this weekend each year and hope to continue to increase the funds raised to increase scholarships in the name of Lenny and return more money to teachers of the year at various schools.

“It’s sad that she’s not here so she can be part of it,” Ziongas said.

They will return to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in New Port Richey for another day from 8 am to 8 pm on Sundays.

We will announce it soon next year.
