Nashville, Tennessee (WSMV)-Madison’s apartment family says they moved to a new space about two weeks ago before the fire this week. Hulletts says he saw firefighters set fire in the apartment building and evacuated two other apartments and 18 people.

Officials said there was no place for 18 people to stay after a fire broke out in Madison’s Falconview apartment on Wednesday afternoon.

“I and my fiancé were sleeping in bed and taking a nap,” says Keila Hallett. “My son ran, saying that smoke was coming out of the vent in the bedroom.”

She says everyone was short and pulled a fire alarm and went downstairs to the unit. On Fridays, soot covers the floor, furniture is ubiquitous, and fans get excited to get rid of the stench of smoke.

“All their clothes, toys, TV, everything, and we don’t have it,” Hallett explains, the house they lived in for a short time was all gone.

“We just moved on Wednesday the 10th,” she says. “We stayed from hotel to hotel and saved money last year.”

She says everything they saved was in their apartment. For now, they are staying at a nearby hotel offered by the American Red Cross. They will move to a new apartment next week.

They started to help the family recover GoFundMe..
