Kansas City, Missouri (KCTV) — The Sophia Broadway family said they left their home near Troost on October 27 and never returned.

KCPD said Broadway was a hit-and-run victim at the 82nd cornerNS And Troost.

The answer wasn’t what everyone expected when the family started calling each other to find out where she was.

The Sophia Broadway family is still asking “Why?” One month after her death. Why did someone beat and drive away a kind-hearted mom, cousin, and friend?

“A lot of questions come to my mind. You don’t know, and you want to know,” said Sophia’s sister Melissa Brown. “The main thing we want to know is why they didn’t stop. Why?”

Broadway’s extended family gathered at the crossroads where she died, respected her memory, and sought justice in her case.

“But it doesn’t get her back, but at least I want to know who that person is,” said Sophia’s cousin Hosea Haywood.

KCPD said someone hit Sophia with their SUV along Troost. All the family and community have to do is blurry pictures of the car.

Sophia’s mother, Mildred Anderson, said they were best friends. The pain of losing her is still fresh.

“They don’t know what they did to our family or me. They killed my daughter and just left her in the street to die,” Anderson said. “I haven’t overcome it. It’s very difficult.”

Sophia’s daughter Sophia Cheryls said her mother was left on the street without thinking.

“I just want justice. I’m not going to stop until I get mom’s justice,” Cheryls said.

If you have information about Sophia’s case, you can call the crime stopper at 816-474-TIPS.
