Tampa, Florida — A family of 14-year-old Tampa girls want to help the general public take her home. They said the last five days had been prolonged.
“They are horrible, long, terrible, terrible,” said Nordis del Toro, mother of Leilani Marello.
Deltoro said she had dropped Marello to Leto High School on Monday morning, but she never went in, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
“”According to classmates, they said they saw her in a Spanish supermarket opposite the school, “Deltro said.
Since then, she hasn’t been seen or heard since. Deltoro recently learned that he had a boyfriend, but said he knew nothing about him.
“”Apparently he told the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office that he broke up with her a few days ago but hadn’t seen her, “Deltro said.
But the family said he found it incredibly strange that Marello left his cell phone at home on Monday morning and didn’t have any clothes or money. They said she only had a school backpack.
“She’s always on the phone, whether she’s looking at a photo or just reading something. She’s always on the phone and it’s completely insane to leave the phone,” Marello said. Said his sister, Courtney del Toro.
They said Marello was an honor student and she had a hand full of friends. She’s pretty quiet and it’s not like her not going home.
“”She has never done this before. Never, “said her mother.
The sheriff’s office believes she may have escaped, and the family believes it is possible. Her family posted leaflets throughout the town in the hope that someone would find her and call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. They just want her to go home safely.
“She means the world to us. We’ve always shown her love, so it doesn’t make sense why she left. And we want her to go home. Only, “said her sister.
