Waterloo, Iowa (AP) — Farmers and Deere & Co. Supplier is worried about how strikes at tractor manufacturers’ factories will affect their lives.
More than 10,000 Deer employees went on strike at 14 Deer plants in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado and Georgia last week after the United Auto Workers refused to offer the deal.
The longer the strike, the greater the impact on the community around the factory. Iowa farmer Lance Lillibridge, president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, said he was worried that parts would not be available if John Deere’s combine broke down during harvest.
