Fauci says US headed in ‘wrong direction’ on coronavirus, in an ‘unnecessary predicament’ – Kansas City, Missouri

Wilmington, Delaware-Dr. Anthony Fauci states that the United States is in an “unnecessary predicament” of a surge in COVID-19 cases caused by unvaccinated Americans and toxic delta variants.

“We’re heading in the wrong direction,” a top infectious disease expert across the country told CNN’s “Allied Powers,” and said he was “extremely dissatisfied” with the rise in infection rates.

He states that the idea of recommending vaccinated wear masks is “actively being considered” by the government’s major public health authorities.

Mask obligations have recently been re-enacted, such as in Los Angeles and Chicago, despite human vaccination status in some cities that have seen particularly high spikes. Fauci told CNN that this is not incompatible with the CDC guidance.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 30 states do not fully vaccinate at least 50% of residents. As of Friday, the daily average of fully vaccinated Americans was the lowest since the end of January, when the vaccine was only available to a small number of people and the supply was trying to catch up.
