Albuquerque, New Mexico (AP) —A California man pleaded guilty to assaulting two flight attendants while he was a passenger on a 2019 flight to New Mexico. A federal prosecutor said Yuba City’s 43-year-old Alton James Johnson entered his petition on Tuesday. Johnson remained in custody until the sentence was issued, and prosecutors said he was facing six months in prison. The incident occurred on December 23, 2019, on a flight from San Diego to Albuquerque.
Johnson was accused of repeatedly touching a female flight attendant up and down. Johnson then improperly grabbed the flight attendant after she told him to quit. When the second flight attendant stepped in and asked Johnson not to touch the flight attendant, the prosecutor said he grabbed the second flight attendant with his arm. According to his judicial transaction in the case, Johnson admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol, but admitted that he was in control of his actions when he committed the assault.
