The Food and Drug Administration has ordered Julul Labs Inc. to stop selling and distributing products in the United States.

The FDA said Juul did not provide “sufficient evidence of a product’s toxicological profile to demonstrate that the sale of the product is appropriate for public health protection.”

The product includes a Juul device and four types of Juul pods. Virginia tobacco-flavored pods with nicotine concentrations of 5.0% and 3.0% and menthol-flavored pods with nicotine concentrations of 5.0% and 3.0%.

“The FDA is responsible for ensuring that tobacco products sold in this country meet the standards set by law, but the responsibility for proving that the products meet these standards is Ultimately it’s on the shoulders of the company, “said the FDA’s Tobacco Product Center.

FDA restrictions apply to commercial distribution and retail sales. The FDA states that it cannot and will not enforce orders on individuals who use Juul products.
