A wildfire broke out in the hills west of Alvada on Friday afternoon.

According to the Alvada Fire Department, the Coal Creek Canyon Fire Department fire is burning about a quarter mile west of the intersection of Colorado’s highways 72 and 93.
Sheriff Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Taprin said he had burned about a quarter acre, reported at around 1:45 pm.
According to Taprin, the fire brigade is on site and no buildings are currently under threat. No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
