Fresno, CA (KFSN)-Arson investigators are investigating the cause of a fire that burned two homes in northeastern Fresno overnight.

A fire brigade was called to the scene shortly after midnight on Willis Avenue on Augusta Street near Fresno Street and Ashlan Avenue.

When the firefighters arrived, they found a house in flames. The fire moved to the attic and after a while spread to the next house.

At that time, the firefighters sought additional help.

“Since two homes were involved, the captain requested a second alert, which is an additional resource to break through the exposed dwellings to make sure no one is involved. Is now possible, “said Sean Johnson, Captain of the Fresno Fire Department.

The animal has been rescued from one of the homes and is expected to be okay.

Firefighters had to pull down the ceiling to make sure the flames were extinguished.

Firefighters say the first house was totally lost, but the fire in the second house was contained in the kitchen area.

No one was injured.

The American Red Cross is supporting two residents from their first home.

No one was found in the second house.
