Fresno, CA (KFSN)-Firefighters are conducting an Arson investigation Wednesday morning after a series of suspicious fires in central Fresno.

The first fire was discovered by Fresno police officers passing by at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Clinton Avenue and Testa Street around 1 am.

The policeman saw a flame in the doorway. Investigators believe that someone lit a wooden door frame.

Authorities say police officers used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. Fresno firefighters used fans to smoke from the building.

The fire brigade confirmed that no smoldering flames remained.

A few hours later, the crew responded to a small fire at the apartments on Harvard Avenue and Mariposa Avenue in central Fresno.

Investigators found a clogged door to a storage unit with a fire.

The fire brigade was able to extinguish the flame immediately.

A third fire was reported around 5:30 am in an office building on Fresno Street near Pontiac Way.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a small fire outside the window. The crew was able to extinguish the flame immediately.

Smoke and some flames broke into the building, but the crew says it wasn’t enough to shut down the business.

Fire authorities believe that the first two fires were arson. They are working to identify the cause of the third flame.
