Spartanburg County, South Carolina (WSPA) – I-85 Part of the work to make the construction zone safer has been completed.
The first five miles of traffic shoots in Spartanberg and Cherokee counties are gone. The shoot was removed between Mile Markers 81 and 86 by Wednesday night. Instead, the driver will see two lanes on the right side of the road.
Please note that the road will get wet on Thursday due to rain.
SCDOT and SC Highway Patrol say The best thing a driver can do to assist in the process is to slow down and pay attention to the crew while navigating through the work zone. Law enforcement agencies will continue to monitor the area.
The crew will begin deleting the next five-mile section — authorities expect it to be completed by the end of the year. SCDOT said it is still 30 days ahead of the previously estimated timeline.
