Corpus Christi, Texas — The first home in the neighborhood to help foster children and their families will soon be called homes.
The story of Agaperanchi was first brought back in March.
Ranch organizers say it only takes a few weeks to open the first of the 24 homes.
“These are the kids who go to school with our kids,” said Melissa Faux, Head of Operations for Agape Ranch. “Their families who are influenced by our community and are full of our love every day.”
Ranches are a non-profit organization dedicated to prevention, care, support, foster parent aging and adoption.
Construction of 24 housing projects is currently underway, 1.6 km (1 mile) from London Elementary School.
“There are many floor plans designed to keep siblings together and provide support, treatment and support services directly to the family on the ranch,” says Faux.
Due to a recent shortage of timber, the opening of the first house was delayed because it was scheduled to open in the summer. However, you will be ready to move in within a few weeks.
On Saturday, the organization hosted Leave a Legacy Gala, the biggest fundraising activity of the year.
The organizers say they have received many generous pledges towards the $ 250,000 goal. The Frazier Family Foundation offers $ 100,000 matches until October 2nd.
“We are raising money for a second home on the ranch to age foster parents,” said 90% of young people aging from foster care without a ranch-like mechanism. Homeless, imprisoned, trafficked, or died within 3 years.
But Agape Ranch gives them hope.
“They have a support system,” Fake said. “That they have the training available to help them love and value these children who came from difficult backgrounds.”
She adds that anything can help run a ranch.
“No gift is too small,” Fake said. “There is no time to devote so much that it cannot be used to make a positive impact.”
