For more information on the festival, KHON2 spoke with Soriana Sanchez Mostago, director of the Honolulu Pumpkin Festival.

KHON2 asked: what is this, and what can people expect when they come here?

“This is the first Honolulu Pumpkin Festival at 17A Productions,” explained Sanchez Mostago. “This is our first family-friendly event, we’ll come here to get some food trucks and pastries, pick pumpkins, and don’t forget to take a picture.”

KHON2 said it was the first time he saw this kind of event here and asked where and how the idea came from.

“So instead of going out to the country-it’s a beautiful experience-you come here, get some entertainment, come with your family, get some great pictures, and Enjoy our urban pumpkin patches, “added Sanchez Mostago.

One of the biggest benefits of this festival is that families can spend time with each other.
KHON2 Question: What makes Halloween so much fun and special for you?

“We had a hard time for a couple of years,” said Sanchez Mostago. “With COVID, this is an opportunity for us to join the family, be disappointed, dress up and have a good time. Especially for families, pick pumpkins and get some candies, Have a great time. Time. “

So what should people expect at an event?

The 2021 Halloween season is the first year of the Honolulu Pumpkin Festival. Question from KHON2: What do you expect from the 2nd Festival next year?

“I hope this will become a family tradition for years to come,” said Sanchez Mostago. “Next year, we want to expand, increase craftsmanship, increase food trucks, and get fresh donuts and hot cider. This is part of celebrating Halloween with our family.”

The Honolulu Pumpkin Festival begins Friday night and lasts Sunday from 5 pm to 10 pm. The festival itself is free, but those who want to eat their own pumpkins have to pay, depending on their size.
