Flags ordered at half-staff to honor fallen Pearl Harbor sailor – Honolulu, Hawaii

Smithland, Iowa (KWWL) —Governor Reynolds ordered a half-mast on August 31, 2021 to honor the 25-year-old Navy Firefighter Level 1. Wesley J. Brown A person killed in Pearl Harbor during World War II. Brown was assigned to USS Oklahoma on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor.

Brown, his mother, and sister lived in Oto, Iowa, and worked on a farm with their cousin before joining the US Navy. He was buried at Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland, Iowa, on August 28.
