Functional illiteracy-Haiti is a Pittsburgh-based organization that raises funds to support the organization’s activities in Haiti. This organization provides education, health care and hope for the people of Haiti. It has been around for 37 years and has provided reading classes, which in recent years have opened vocational schools, missions and clinics.
FLM-Haiti has informed New Pittsburgh Courier of three new board members. Diane Neely Bates A former winner of the Courier’s “Women of Excellence” award. She leverages decades of marketing experience to benefit FLM-Haiti.
Lynn Moran He has been a researcher on the Joint Committee since 1990 and is also a faculty member on the Joint Committee in both home care and hospital pharmacy programs. Dr. Moran holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Pitt and a PharmD degree from Ohio State University in Columbus.
Suze Fanfan-DeJarnette Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, but raised in Boston. She married three children, earned a master’s degree in education from Tufts University, and a master’s degree in applied linguistics from UMass Boston. Fanfan-DeJarnette is currently teaching in the Boston Public School system.
