Timmonsville, South Carolina (WBTW) — Florence School District 4 will be officially integrated with Florence 1 School on Friday.
Students at Timmonsville High School and Johnson Middle School attend Florence 1 School.
Florence for School Board Proceedings in February Over the integration, South Carolina director Molly Spearman claimed he had no authority to close the school. As of Thursday, the proceedings have not yet been resolved, according to the South Carolina Public Index.
In response to the proceedings filed in April, the South Carolina Department of Education denied the Board’s allegations, stating that Spearman acted within her authority. The state urged the judge to dismiss the proceedings with prejudice.
According to the lawsuit, in 2018 Spearman said the district was “high risk” because of financial problems. The board argued that these issues had improved by 2020 and said that financial emergencies no longer existed.
